oh my

my my my poor neglected blog. how long it has been since i have last typed in you. that sounds a bit dirty but it is me after all.

i have lots of things that i want to write about but right now i realllllllllly cbf because i still have so much going on. i hesitate to say that i will stop blogging until exams are over because i might feel like it in between now and then.

so many things have happened since my last entry.

-birthday
i am now 18. was an awesome day. even like randoms saying happy birthday is cool. lol. LOVELY GIFTS. not that that's what a birthday is about. but THANK YOU EVERYBODY. i shall post pics of them later on.

-anniversary
parents' 25th wedding anniversary. it was actually in july but they held off a party until a week or two ago because their best man came to visit us on his way home to cambooooooodia. bought them a cake. mmm black forest. but like asian style so it had jelly in it... might sound weird to some people but in fact it is vely goot lah. at least for me because i am fob.

yeah they left this morning. they came from sydney but lao yi came from paris. where she lives. to sydney. because ah ma lives in sydney. and then they came here on wednesday night. short trip i know.. but lao yi is only here for like 13 days. thats like NOTHING. anyway. lao yi calls me AH NICK even though she doesnt know what a blog is. or the internet. lol and she cant say 'r' so my dad becomes mala instead of mara and my sister becomes naly instead of nary. and my mums like 'can you say RRR? and she does the cambo rolling tongue thing RRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR and lao yi is like 'rrrLLLLLLLLLL' LOL.

anyway i bought another cake for ah mas bday which was like a week ago. she never remembers her own bday until someone calls her and then shell be like ohh.. sankyew! lol. so yes we went to good old sovereign hill yesterday. i have now been there three times oh lordy. chinese village never changes haha. they have like a hut where theres this chinese person in completely wrong dress.. folding those little coloured stars that you put in jars.. and paper cranes. and im like umm wtf. the miners were from CHINA not JAPAN. at least the woman was chinese. and her hat was right. but she was wearing red silk.. which is like uh. wrong. sif miners had that much money. anyway moving on from my historical accuracy bitch session...

i got to practise my languages these past few days with lao yi. she speaks to me in mandarin and teochiu so i got to use my teochiu which like never gets used. but it wasnt too bad. grandma was surprised cause like i havent spoken teochiu since i was 4 years old hahaha she had no idea. mandarin still isnt too bad about 9 months after finishing vce chinese. which is good. sometimes i didnt know how to say something in mandarin so id drop in a teochiu word. or vice versa. or a cambo word into a teochiu sentence. or start a sentence in cambo and end in teochiu. LOL i was like some retarded translation program.

my mum said this one sentence with 3 languages to lao yi and she was a bit confused. she was saynig how like she works so she doesnt have time to clean the house everyday:

ua bho si gang clean pteah phong.

underlined = teochiu
bold = engrish
italics = cambo

and lao yi was llike '...c-lean..?' and my mums like oh. clean house = soi chu
hahaha. i learnt the teochiu word for pasta! TONG SIM HUNG. sounds cooler than pasta. maybe its like ton sim hoon in hokkien. i dunno.

okay anyway i need to go and do some research on genetics now. not generics. ah the difference one letter can make. omg that relates to dna bases and mutations and crap. im making the connections already.
